I STUMBLED ACROSS THIS QUITE ACCIDENTLY BUT GLAD I DID. I KNEW THE BACKMANS PERSONALLY AS MY FATHER WAS THE FOUNDRY FOREMAN FOR 8 YEARS FROM 1960 - 1968 AND WE ALSO ATTENDED THE SAME LUTHERAN CHURCH, WHERE I WAS BAPTIZED AND CONFIRMED... THE BACKMAN'S WERE THE ONES WHO INTRODUCED US TO THE CHURCH... GREAT STORY, THANK YOU

I drove by that building my whole younger life. I i went to school down the street at sunsetview elementary. I always wanted to see something in there like molten metal or a sword, but i never did see much going on there. I did finally see some of their work on local manholes and sidewalk inlays but that must have been the last gasps from their foundry....

You really need to get your facts straight. The foundry was not started by Everett and Angus. Backmans were never LDS

Did a part two ever get written? I lived near the foundry and always wondered about it. I appreciate your research!
